Review: Wet n Wild Ultimate Brow Kit

I decided to do a review of make-ups on hand, therefore, some of the products may be a bit dirty from constant use or the labels has been damaged.  I am not a professional make-up artist but I will try to review the product base on my own opinion and experience.

Description : Mini brow salon in a handy, purse-friendly compact with all the essential tools to shape, smooth, define, and maintain perfect brows. This five-piece set includes a soft wax that shapes brows, two setting powders for definition, a hard angle brush for easy application, and mini tweezers for stray hairs.

How to use: (from packaging)

1. Tweeze. Remove any stray hairs from above or below brow.
2. Define. Fill in eyebrows with one or both Brow Powders to match hair color
3. Hold. Apply Brow Wax in an upward direction to keep brow in place.

Observations/Opinion:

·  I like the packaging.  It includes a small tweezer, a tapered brow brush and a mirror placed underneath a slide compartment below the palette which makes it free from any residue which I really like.

However the brush is a bit too soft for me.  Initially it worked really well, but after some repeative use, the brush became a bit to soft to actually use for precision.  I had difficulty in along the edges of my brow to achieve that tapered look.

Very pigmented on the first application.

This swatch actually shows the darker and lighter shade.  You may not see much of a difference since I applied a few repeated strokes on this. 

After 3 hours, you will notice that the color ,especially at the edges are starting to fade.

Will I buy again?

Maybe.If I don’t have any option. But since I saw a lot of reviews on brow products and applications, I wanted to try them out too so I can compare which would suit me best.

Wet n Wild Silk Finish Lipstick

Color : Light Beige Frost (510A) 

Description : Glides on creamy for moist looking lips.  Enriched with conditioning ingredients of Vitamin A & E and Aloe Vera.

Price Range: P150 – P190

Observations/Opinion:

• Glides smoothly during application.
• Has a pinkish undertone and a bit shimmery against the light making it moist looking.
• I do have dry lips, so I let it stay for the duration of the day (applied at 2PM) to check for lip condition. After 3 hours of lip smacking, talking, smiling and drinking, color is still vibrant. After 2 hours more, color starts to fade but is still there until it became a dark pinkish tint for 3 hours more.
• The pigmentation was OK considering I wasn't wearing any lip liners and the dark edges of my lips are hardly visible ( the reason why I don’t use sheer lipsticks).
• The fragrance is subtle for you not to eat nor hate :D
• Packaging is simple and a no-brainer. But if you are a lover of cute packaging, you might not want this.

Will I buy again? Yes but in another shade. Although according to friends, the color when worn was ok with my skintone, I still find it a bit pink, and I am not that fond of pink lipsticks :) although I don't mind using it on lazy days ...

I received a curated box which is quite sturdy and being a recycling enthusiast this box is not going anywhere unused :D

The box is a bit small from reviews I received, so I was curious and opened it at once.  The box is initially covered by a book cover-like hard paper indicating the theme for this month.  So from this alone, you know that it is a full line make-up from Maybelline.  Well, I had been a Maybelline user and most of my make-up are from Maybelline.  Initially, I thought I was going to be disappointed since I was expecting something new... but then again, why should I complain, I am a Maybelline user which meant I no longer have to shell out too much money on buying these products when my stocks get exhausted :D

Baby Lips Runway Brights in Pink Peony

A lipbalm with a hint of color.  We had gotten used to colorless lipbalms but for those who have natural looking lips who aren't used to putting too much lipsticks, this is a go.  The color isn't that much pigmented but would give just a hint of color for your lips without drying it.

I have once indicated in my previous blog how my daughter loves lipgloss and lipbalms.  This is not an exemption.  As soon as I opened the box, the first thing she grabbed was this and made a claim on it :D

Volum' Express Rocket Mascara in Black

Now I am sure I won't be running out of mascaras soon.  I got a lot of stocks now in different brands that I will get to try.  However this is my first time to try this out from Maybelline.  It claims to have a fast glide formula that will give you thick and beautiful lashes in just a moment.

It boast of micro bristles for even application from roots to tips and a rigid core to achieve sleek volume instantly. 

Clear Smooth BB Stick 8-in-1 Skin Transformer in Fresh

For a clear and smooth base in 1 go. This anti-shine powder in a stick provides 8 different skin benefits:

OK.  I had been wanting to try this eversince I saw one in a grocery store.  I am a BB cream lover, so this one is something new coming from a stick.  However, I am not sure if the color provided to me is applicable for my skin color.  I'll try make some swatches at a Maybelline store first before I try out this one.

This one just came in time since I don't have a blush to use. I can play wih this color since I can definitely use it at work without looking too much made up.

Clear Smooth All in One Shine-Free Foundation in Honey

Again, I am not sure if the shade given to me is appropriate for my skin tone, but will try to take a swatch first.  This shade may be a little too light for me.

Color Sensational Lasting Lipcolor in Coral Crush

I am not sure if the color is again appropriate for me to wear on a daily use but I just acquired a red lipstick which I couldn't wear alone, so I usually mix it up with a nude color to lighten it up.. might be able to use lip color for the same purpose.  Actual color is lighter, so I need to darken it a bit :)

EyeStudio Master EyeLiner in Black

Now this one, I literally cried. Why?..because I just bought one and still in its original packaging. huhuhu.. If I knew I'm gonna receive this, I wouldn't have bought one.  Sayang ang 399... oh well, I can always keep it as spare :D  This is one of my must haves in my kikay kit (lipcolor, eyeliner, mascara, face powder)

Whimsical Makeup (My daughter's Xmas Party last 2010)

I know... its kinda' late to be posting it here... but I just wanted to share how we experimented on my daughter for her costume and outfit changes including hair and make-up.

I guess we overdid a bit.. hahaha.  I like to try different looks on her and things that I couldn't do anymore.  I am completely a hands-on mother when it comes to her outfits for every event that she joins.  So here goes...

This is when her school had a costume party for their Xmas celebration last 2010.  She was 6 years old then.

This is her before the transformation... she's quite restless and bored already ..

This is her after her make-over.  Hair (by me) and make-up by my sister.

Her eye make-up is a combination of green pink and yellow shades with a hint of glitter powder (for makeup).  You will find out later why...

 The first get-up is for a dance number.

 The second outfit is for a song number.

She is with her classmate in the middle picture.  We decided to up-do her hair on the spot.  The little flowers is just a preparation for the third change.

And the final is for the actual costume.  She came out as a fairy...the reason for the eye make-up.  It goes well with her wings.. hehehe

I made the gown itself.  .... no... I am not a professional seamtress.. I just know how to put one thing from the other.  This is just a simple tie-back gown so i don't need to do the complicated zipper thing.. hehehe... It is a low back dress made from used textile (retaso from our previous props) layered with unused organza (which i used for my giveaways) which I was able to re-use again..lol.  See, I didn't spend much at all.  I just bought the wings from divisoria and the artificial flower used to decorate her hair and dress.

It turned out nice and everyone thought I bought it as is.  Honestly, if I could, I wouldnt spend much at all..I am just resourceful.  A friend of mine even borrowed the costume afterwards for her daugher. Not bad at all.

Sorry, I couldnt put up a tutorial for now but I'll see what I can do if I do find the time.
